Rank That: Most anticipated films of 2019

The year 2019 will be filled with movies that fans are very excited for. To help you out, I’ve come up with the five films you should definitely buy tickets for. Hopefully, there is a movie on here for everyone. So read through and find the one that sounds most interesting to you.

Sabre Lion King
The Lion King

This is a surprising addition to this list, because I have not been the biggest fan of Disney remaking old classics. I think they should just release new original movies. It feels like Mickey is running out of ideas. That being said, I’m willing to make an exception for The Lion King, since I think that can really work for live action. It was such a monumental movie when it came out, and it’ll be fun to revisit it.

Spider-Man: Far From Home

I’m very excited to see this movie because of how great the first one was. Spider-Man: Homecoming is one of my favorite Marvel movies. It had hilarious comedy, a well-written and acted main character, and a shocking twist. Based on the trailer that came out for Far From Home, it looks like they’re bringing back the magic of the first movie. The trailer gave a similar feel to the first one, but a different plot. The worst thing a sequel can do is repeat the first one. And, this trailer showed a different setting and story than Homecoming.

Sabre End Game
Avengers: Endgame

This is an obvious choice. For many, this would be their number-one pick. It’s nothing against this movie, but if I could only see two of these three films, I’d pick the next two. However, with the cliffhanger in Avengers: Infinity War, who wouldn’t want to watch this? It’s either been confirmed or nearly confirmed that this is the last film in the franchise with the original Avengers cast. Therefore, most people are going to want to watch Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans for the last time in this series. I want to know how they send these characters off. It’s almost guaranteed that they will die, but I want to know how they will die. Will I leave the theater satisfied or disappointed?

Sabre Tarantino
Once Upon A Time in Hollywood

I usually don’t like to do this, but if I had to predict my favorite movie of the year, I’d guess Quentin Tarantino’s new movie Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. Behind possibly Christopher Nolan, Steven Spielberg, John Hughes, and Irvin Kershner, Tarantino is one of my favorite directors of all time. If I was a movie producer, I’d give him complete trust in his project. He’s proved time and time again he can make surprising, exciting movies with fantastic dialogue. His past few movies have been set in historical times. While I think they’re great movies, I miss the Pulp Fiction setting. This one will be set in the 1960s, which isn’t exactly the 1990s, but that’s even better. It’s not the exact same setting as his earlier movies, but it’s a time where he can still explore similar era. The cast is another reason I’m excited for the film. Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, and Leonardo DiCaprio are all set to star. All three of them have done some great work in the past.

Star Wars Episode IX

I don’t think this will be even close to the best movie of the year. And while I enjoyed parts of Episode VIII, it didn’t leave me super excited for the sequel. That being said, this is a Star Wars film. On top of that, it’s the conclusion of the trilogy. Therefore, if I could only see one movie this year, I’m definitely picking Episode IX. Star Wars is such a monumental series in pop culture, and I’m very curious to see how they’ll close it off. I’m of the opinion that nine Star Wars saga films is enough, so in my mind, this may be the last real Star Wars movie. I’m hoping they don’t just rely on old stories and references, but instead create something new. That’s what I liked about The Last Jedi. While it had several problems, it was, for the most part, a new original story. I will be very disappointed if Episode IX turns out to simply be a remake of Return of the Jedi. Regardless, I will definitely see this movie to find out what happens to each of the characters and how the overall story comes to an end.
